Instead of the usual " Goodnight Oppo" post, I'd like to hear your best car story. Everyone has at least one. Could be a good trip, an insane road, a wreck, that one time you transitioned your slide perfectly through the left-right swoop of the corkscrew at Laguna. I'm interested to hear your stories!

That one time I was going through a round about and lost the front of my bike. That fucking hurt.

Wait, you said best story. Whoops.

Probably the time some girls from my school backed into my car at a stop sign and called the cops saying I hit them. The cop took one look at my car and they were charged with filing a false police report.

OK. How about the time I drove my housemates Subaru to the 4 corners area at 60+ mph and on the way back (7000 feet elevation) stopped to take a leak and fell on my ass because the road was covered in black ice. Go Subaru. (and go good tires).

A few years ago when I was single, my 93 XJ had really bad rusted floorboards, so since I wasn't going to fix that I caminoed it just past the doors. I still drove coworkers to lunch and sometimes wore a motorcycle helmet while driving. Cut top in mid September, while on a job site just before Halloween, I found a rocking chair in a dumpster, So I got an idea. Strapped the chair in the back rear facing.
The next job site was a saks 5th ave, and that ratty ass thing was so out of place, I parked it on the far lot. Anyway, job was over on Halloween, the night before I went to the sex shop, bought a blow up doll, inflated it, duct taped it sitting g in the chair with a pair of pants around the ankles, and a cardinal jersey around the arms, in buttoned. Re strapped the chair to the back of the Cherokee, and covered with black plastic so I didn't get in trouble to or while at work.

After work, took the plastic off and hit the interstate, drove the I-270 loop around half STL and visited a couple buddies. Many lols were had. SR20 in a bit, gotta dig for them & I'm on mobile.

Still had the back seat and dro

I got one!
back in '10, In mid February, my dad and I went to his mom's house for a nice birthday lunch for him. Now, in this time period, my dad drove a 1997 opel astra 1.4 16V. this was a pretty light, and actually very quick car for Serbia, where we lived.
So we're driving out to the village where his mom lives, and as we're going, the snow (there was about a foot on the ground already) started getting worse.
Being the cost cutter that he was, my dad only had front snow tires (as only 2 were mandatory by law) and only chained up the said snow tires. This made for some amusing moments with the rear end, as you can probably guess.
Suddenly, a wild local in white lada niva appears out of nowhere, and my dad is forced to swerve hard to the right to avoid him!

"Whoosh" is the sound that the snow we flew in to made, as my dad fought to regain control of the car! by this point, he had recovered the swerve to the right, but the car's ass didn't follow!

It wound up catching up to us, and we were pulled in to an un cleared side street at about 45 kph. Luckily, neither of us were injured, but our astra was stuck in the snow, and we were so smart, we forgot to put a shovel in the trunk!

We proceeded to try and dig the car out, but to no avail! The funny thing is, we were 350 meters away from my granda's house, but between us and it was a street full of the perilous white stuff! So, if you can't get back up on to the main road, what do you do? you say "fuck it!" so that's what we did!

I pushed a bit, my dad floored it A LOT, and he plowed through the street in the astra, making a clear cut path, right to the doorstep!

Moral of the story? HAVE A SHOVEL IN THE CAR AT ALL TIMES

The local high schools here have an annual series of hockey games organized into an East/West style. Our school was in the East division. I got the car for the day (White 2001 Hyundai Sonata V6.) and managed persuade the class president to give us one of the school flags. Myself along with some friends proceeded to drive around like damn fools flying the school flag (Go Bears!) honking and screaming like idiots.

East ended up taking the day and I then proceeded to do donuts in the arena parking lot with the flag flying high.

Ahhh, youth.

Coming home after class late at night, and had a long hill straight ahead of me with no other cars.

I don't know what possessed me, but I pinned the throttle and didn't let up for what I've since measured to be maybe 2.5 miles?

Was still pulling at 156 going uphill with another at least 2500RPM to go, when I chickened out.

Swiped a police officer directing traffic with my side mirror when I was 17, and got away with it. Was white as a sheet for the rest of the day, though. My mom made me find the guy and call him to apologize. I told him I hadn't been thinking and he agreed.

Then there was once where I almost drove off a cliff. Come to think about it, that happened earlier that year.

I shouldn't be allowed to drive.

I have always loved Astons for their looks but not what they were, if that makes sense. I always thought, yes Astons are great and make a great noise, but why not get a C2s or 997 Turbo? It was this summer that I got it. It was the summer I rode in a beautiful Jet Black/Sahara Tan modified Aston Martin V8 Vantage . I had always loved that car. The carbon fiber body kit, the lowered suspension, the modified exhaust that screamed when the valves opened. But after grabbing the handle and opening the swan door then lowering myself into the passenger seat did I see what they were all about. The car felt special. Like nothing else I had ever experienced in a car. Not even the low, mid-engined Ferrari F430 or Audi R8 V10 Spyder had the same feeling. Black Piano finish lathered the dash and center console. The two-tone black and tan leather so smooth and stunning. An Aston is like nothing else. It gives you a feeling that you're in something special. A feeling that can't be matched in any car. A feeling nobody can explain.

This was copy and pasted from a comment on an older Oppo post.

I don't think I could write up any of the good ones quickly enough to share tonight, but now you have me wanting to start putting them down somewhere for posting at a later date. I'm sure someone might be interested to hear about the little 700r4 that couldn't, the flying/wheelying/undead s-10 of doom, mud bogging in a v6 camaro, shady car deals, or perhaps an explanation of the great bondo shortage of 2004. I just hope the guy they all revolve around isn't on here. He might kill me.

I know what you mean. I've just sat in a few V8s and they are just feel more "complete" more solid than anything I've been in. They are awesome. Not to mention the fantastic design on the inside and out!
